Pencil It In With Taschen

Book publisher, Taschen, continuously produces pieces of art in the form of coffee table books. From fashion and design, to photography and fine art, there is no shortage of visual inspiration in their massive library.  In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great Gustav Klimt, Taschen has published Gustav Klimt: The Complete Paintings. Featuring a complete catalogue of Klimt’s work, the tome is close to 700 pages and weighs in at an impressive 17 pounds. For those who want to be inspired by Klimt’s art on a daily basis (but not tote around 17 extra pounds of paper), Taschen’s spiral diaries allow you to keep track of all of life’s events while also treating your eyes to a new visual feast every week. Understandably, the paper day-planner has taken a backseat to dictating your appointments to Siri. But for those of us who are more visually inclined and like to map out our appointments on paper, Taschen’s spiral diaries are a beautiful and functional alternative to iCal. Yes, a diary full of Klimt is an option, but so are Salvador Dali’s rich surrealist paintings, as well as Frida Kahlo’s iconic art. With these striking journals, it’s time to look away from the touchscreen and revisit penciling in your engagements.
At the end of 2013, one can flip through your life’s events from the past year and be inspired by the works of great artists.
