Simply Chic

Filippa K is all about simplicity. With its classic look and clean lines, the Stockholm-based brand has established itself as one of Sweden’s leading fashion houses with its signature minimalist elegance. As fashion moves away from excess and toward refined tastes this fall, the brand spreads its raison d’être beyond European shores by opening its first North American concept store in San Francisco.
Designer Filippa Knutsson fell in love with SF last year when she rented a house in Sea Ranch, just 100 miles north of the city. San Francisco left such an impression on the designer that it inspired the aesthetic for her new store.

“In the past, our stores have been extremely clean and minimal,” Knutsson says. “We are looking towards a warmer, more tactile simplicity with an organic feel, and we felt that the store had the right appeal in terms of size and space.”

Swedish architect Björn Aaro transformed the space into a standing homage, not only to the Filippa K design philosophy, but also to the house Knutsson fell in love with. A mix of natural materials, cutting edge design, lofty ceilings and a soft palette brings life to the brand’s understated style. Decorative display details such as white Corian surfaces and creative light fixtures embody style, simplicity and quality.
The store, opening at the end of the month, will carry an array of ’70s punk-inspired collections. 66 Kearny St, San Francisco, CA. www.filippa-k.com
